Luggage Handling Tips For Your Visit To London

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

When you leave home to head to somewhere like London, the amount of luggage you bring with you is going to have a very significant impact on your movements around the city.

I have 1 large bag with pull-up handle and wheels on the bottom, a backpack and (eventually) a smaller wheel bag, and let me tell you, lugging those darn things around the London Underground system was an absolute NIGHTMARE!

Windsor Castle - An Introduction

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Perhaps one of my favourite tourist spots while in London was a visit to Windsor Castle, the weekend retreat of the Queen.

To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect, but suffice it to say it was more than worth the visit. On my next trip to London, I have every intention of returning - I was so enamoured of the place.

The Royal Standard of England - England’s Oldest Pub

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

An unexpected pleasure on my time in London was a visit to England’s oldest pub, the Royal Standard of England, which has been open for 9 centuries (approx. 950 years, or so I believe).

One of my many stops while rushing through London (you can’t do true justice to seeing all that London has to offer in the 2-odd weeks I was there…) was at the Natural History Museum, via the South Kensington Tube station, on Cromwell Road.

The London Eye

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

One of the most interesting ways to see London is by air.  Until recently, that was pretty difficult, but now it’s easy - just step onto a platform and into the pod of the London Eye.  The platform moves slower than the average escalator, making it easy to see the city.

Be Sure To Visit The Tower Of London

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

The Tower of London has been around for over nine hundred years.  While it’s an attraction now, it spent most of its time as a prison, and the twenty towers that make it up are fill of ancient traditions, armor, jewels, and history.

The Weather In London

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

If you’re visiting London, you’ve probably heard a lot about its rainy reputation.  However, that’s not all there is to weather in England’s biggest city.  Frequent rain has always been a fixture, but recently sunshine and dry heat have been suddenly occurring, too.  In recent years, London summers have reached record temperatures, and autumn has been warm as well.  Freezing temperatures have always been rare in London, so don’t expect frigid winters, either.
